Originally from the Middle East, Mardo El-Noor is a German-born Kiwi visual artist with a wide range of interests and skills. After dabbling in music for a few years which included releasing five music albums with EMI and Sony Music, Mardo decided to pursue visual arts academically while honing his skills in photography, animation and graphics.
Initially Mardo focused on writing and story telling through animated short narratives. He directed and animated a few short films which were all screened in small, big, and very big film festivals around the world. Mardo also directed music clips for two of the biggest bands in New Zealand before moving to photography, photo-manipulation and typography.
Mardo’s photographic style is playful, filmic, hyper-real and often depicts highly colourful and detailed tableaux that blur the boundaries between the photographic and the illustrative. Moreover, his passion for typography transports written words into the realm of ornate illustration.
This portfolio showcases samples of Mardo's photo-manipulation work.
